In Anambra, a Lawmaker dies hours after APGA primaries

Francis Mmegbuaneze
A lawmaker in the Anambra state House of Assembly, Francis Mmegbuaneze, has died only hours after participating in the primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
According to a report by The Punch, the representative of Idemili North constituency had attended the party gathering on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from his hospital bed.

The exercise saw incumbent, Governor Willie Obiano, emerge as the party's governorship candidate for the November 18 election.
According to The Punch, a party member said that Mmegbuaneze had attended the exercise against the advice of his doctors after he had been hospitalised for an undisclosed illness.
Despite that the Press Secretary to the House of Assembly, Mr. Emma Mmadu, could not confirm the lawmaker's death, a Special Adviser to Governor Obiano, Chief Chiedozie Ezeugwa, described it as an unexpected huge loss.
